PARKING:

Funny Car Park Sign by Lynne Dymond

There is parking for approximately 2000 cars at the stadium itself at a cost of £5 per car.  It is fairly well organised with stewards directing you to your parking space.  The down side is the amount of time it takes to exit the car park after the match.  It will take you between 20 minutes and half an hour depending where you are parked.

Some people are tempted to park in the Asda and Ikea car parks next to the stadium but there are two reasons not to do this.  Firstly it will take you an age to get out of the car parks with the shoppers, but more importantly they often fine people for parking there if they have not used the store to do their shopping.

The final option is to park within the industrial estates located to the East and West of the stadium.  There is generally plenty of free parking on the roadside and within some of the industrial units.  If you park in these areas please be respectful to the local busineses as local fans do not want to lose their good will.  Also be aware that Police with speed cameras operate in these areas due to several accidents after matches.

TRAIN TRAVEL - Milton Keynes Central

Class 390 'Pendolino', 390045, Virgin Trains, by Bonedome 33

Milton Keynes Railway Station is serviced by three train services:

London Midland - Stopping at all stations between Birmingham and London Euston
Southern - Stopping at all stations between Milton Keynes and Clapham Junction (London)
Virgin - Inter City service operating from London Euston via Milton Keynes

The station itself is modern and large with nine gate controlled platforms and large computerised timetable boards in the main concourse.  There are a number of snack outlets in the station itself and Costa Coffee, Marks and Spencers Express and other outlets just outside the station.  There is a large taxi rank and bus station outside the main entrance.

The stadium itself is five miles from the station and is not within walking distance.  You can catch Hackney Carriages from Central Milton Keynes Station to the stadium but these cost a fixed fee of £9.  Licensed private hire companies vary in price, but will be considerably cheaper than the Hackney Carriages.  The four main licensed minicab companies in Milton Keynes are fully licenced and will display Milton Keynes blue minicab playes on the rear of the vehicle.  You will need to book them in advance:

Ace Cars - 01908 555555
Eezy - 01908 218218
Raffles - 01908 222222
Skyline - 01908 222111

There is one bus service - the No 7 - which runs from Milton Keynes Central Rail Station via the City Centre, Oldbrook and the Hospital to the stop on Grafton Street adjacent to the stadium entrance. It then continues to Bletchley Bus Station. This runs every 20 minutes at 10 minutes, 30 minutes and 50 minutes past the hour from Central Rail Station and the journey time is 11 minutes. The return journey leaves the Granby, Grafton Street stop at 18 minutes, 38 minutes and 58 minutes past the hour and arrives at the Central Rail Station 9 minutes later.

WHERE TO DRINK

Good Pub Guide by geishaboy500

At the Stadium
- There is a brand new Sports Bar at the stadium called the Red Dot Bar which is used by home and away fans.  It's free to enter but you will find drinks on the expensive side.  There are a number of screens showing live football matches in the venue.  Within the stadium itself there is a bar off the main concourse at the rear of the away seating area.

Vicinity of the Stadium - The nearest pub to the stadium is The Beacon which is a 15 minute walk away.  Leave the stadium complex on the East side, walking past the new McDonalds and KFC before crossing the road using the underpass into the Mount Farm Industrial Estate.  Walk the length of Dawson Road and then turn right into Bond Street.  The pub is on the right hand side.  Its a 1980's building which is devoid of character, has seen better days and is avoided by most of the local fans.

A mile away - There are a number of more traditional pubs in the Fenny Startford area which is a 20 minute walk South from the ground, two of which are worth a mention.  The first is The Swan Hotel which is on the junction of Watling Street, Aylesbury Road and Simpson Road. It has a basic range of beers but they serve good value food on a match day.  The menu is the usual Pub fayre of sandwiches and main meals and they also serve breakfast until 1.30pm.   The second is The Red Lion which is on Simpson Road and has a lovely setting right on the Lock where they have a decent size garden and plenty of room to stand around outside.

Milton Keynes Centre - There are numerous bars within walking distance of Milton Keynes Central Railway Station in the centre of MK.  As you come out of the railway station head for the underpass in front of you and then enter Midsummer Boulevard.  Along this road you'll find two large Wetherspoons, Lloyds No 1, Bar Med and All Bar One.

WHERE TO EAT

Altro Spazio Strato Restaurant by Hg2Hedonist

At the Stadium
- There is food available on the concourse inside the ground including pies, hot-dogs, jacket potatoes, chocolates and crisps.  The catering has been taken in house for the 2010/11 season which should mean that the quality of products on sale will improve.  Alternatively there is usually a decent burger van positioned outside the Box Office to the South West of the Stadium or you may want to use the brand new McDonalds and KFC which have been built within the Stadium Complex to the West of the stadium itself.

Milton Keynes - Milton Keynes is jammed pack with eateries including Chiquitos, Pizza Express, Ask, Bella Italia, Strada, Two for One, Beefeater, Harvester, Toby Carvery, various Indian and Chinese restaurants etc.
