FA Cup 1st Round
Stadium MK ![]() Forum Links: Match Thread Make your Predictions ![]() Introduction: Some welcome relief this weekend from the hurly burly of League One, and it comes in the form of an FA Cup 1st round match against Macclesfield Town. Paul Ince sees the club that he started out with as a manager come to the club that he has made his own with success in the league and cup. There is no doubt that Maccs will be up for this and will come out with all guns blazing. They are currently languishing in 18th place in League Two and will see this as a chance to forget their troubles for one day at least. ![]() The Maccs Factor: - The club which was formed in 1874 play at the Moss Road stadium with a capacity of 6355 - Maccs first made the FA Cup first round in 1960 but lost 7-1 to Southport - Under Paul Ince the Silkmen made the FA Cup 3rd round where they played and lost to Chelsea - In November 2008 Macclesfield again made the FA Cup 3rd round but lost 1-0 to Everton - Their local rivals are Altrincham which goes back to their Cheshire League days - Bizarrely the club has a supporters group based in South Wales ![]() In the News: - Macclesfield draw 2-2 with Bradford in the league - Macclesfield Town striker Matthew Tipton has apologised after he was needlessly sent off - Macclesfield Town boss Keith Alexander is assessing the fitness of four players - MACCLESFIELD have been drawn away at League One side MK Dons in the first round of the FA Cup ![]() Players to watch: Macclesfield are a side who are scoring goals but conceeding more. In the last two games they have gone 2-0 up only to allow the opposition back in to draw 2-2. Colin Daniels is one of their key players plying his trade on the left side of midfield. He has started every game this season and scored in the last match against Bradford as well as being credited with assists in other matches. He has recently attracted interest from Notts Forest and Sheffield Weds and will be a key player. The other player of note is John Rooney (brother of Wayne) who is 18 and plays up front. He scored recently against Cheltenham with a 25 yard volley and is tipped as a talented prospect. ![]() Form Guide: Maccs 2-2 Bradford Maccs 2-2 Dagenham & Redbridge Cheltenham 1-2 Maccs Maccs 0-1 Lincoln City Carlisle 4-2 Maccs (JPT) Darlington 0-1 Maccs ![]() Official Site: http://www.mtfc.co.uk/page/Welcome Fans Forum: http://www.maccfans.co.uk/
