Dons v Ex Dons
Pirates on the Starboard Bow

It's always nice to see an ex player return but this week we could well overdose on returning players as the Brizzle Dons roll into town. The Gas have three ex-Dons in their line up with ex loanee Dominic Blizzard being joined firstly by Carl Regan who was released by Roberto Di Matteo in the Summer who was then joined by winger Mark Wright who found his way the Memorial Ground on transfer deadline day via a short stay at Brighton.

The pre match build includes Ince saying that Regan and Wright should never have been allowed to leave and with his previous with both players at former clubs, Ince was Regans boss at Macclesfield and was at Wolves with Wrighty so he has a bit of fondness for them, it'd be going to far to say he had a soft spot for them. There are also the obligatory "Were looking to get one over our old team mate" articles floating around too.

Ince returns to the dugout following his two match ban to find he has a bit of planning to do and he's been a busy chap as a result. Early in the week he feared both JJ and Chadders were definitely going to struggle to be involved, he signed Mawgs on a "short term" deal without anyone putting a definition to short. Later in the week he discovered Gleese was to miss the Charlton game through an International call up which compounded Lewis two much ban for shouting rude words at Andy D'Urso (luckily 12,000 Dons fans escaped a similar ban for the same offence that day).

The Dons will be looking to bounce back from a very poor performance and the fans will also be looking for a bit more honesty this week in the summing up of proceedings post match after last weeks embarrassment from Mr Robinson. We really need to put into perspective the loss at Southampton and look at the big picture and compare now to last season. The Saints are a good footballing side and they did well, we had our worst collective game so far this season which is only one of two bad games (Oldham being the other) and weve lost two others by a single goal. We've won eight games and have more points than last season and are higher up the table than under RDM got us after fourteen games. Of the four teams above us last season at this point none were promoted, this season its safe to say at least one of the three above us now will be a Championship side if not two.

Our visitors started the season like a steam train leaving Temple Meads for the Cornish coast 100 years ago. They were on fire in the first ten games winning seven of them and only losing two and were five points better off than we were after they beat Saints at St.Mary's at the end of September. Since then its been a complete turn round for them this month, they've lost four on the spin in the League including defeats at Norwich (5-1) and Southend and home losses to rivals Yeovil and table topping Leeds 0-4 on Tuesday night. This has meant a drop of three places and they trail the Dons by four points.

Paul Trollope's side adjusted well to life without Ricky Lambert with Kuffour and Dickson stepping up with nine goals between them in the league. He'll be fully aware though that a defeat to the Dons and results going against them could see Rovers sucked into mid table and really dent morale so I'd expect quite a battle as they try to halt the slide. Trollope will be without Danny Coles and Chris Lines is rated no more than 50:50 in what is quite a small squad which could cause some selection problems, or not, depending on your viewpoint.

In four previous meetings with the Gas MK Dons have won three and drawn one. The Dons did the double last season winning both games 2-1. The season the Dons lost to Shrewsbury in the League Two play-offs Rovers then beat the Shrews in the Final to gain promotion. Rovers share their ground with Bristol Rubgy Club and are looking to redevelop the Memorial Ground.

Fizz Prediction

Its Goodnight Irene. The Gas losing streak will be at five games come full time and the Dons will be enjoying the fireworks.
